Green bin collection will start in 2027 for most of Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - It's official, Oxford County Council has signed off on a green bin program.
A new contract was awarded to Emterra Environmental and Generate Upcycle during yesterday's council meeting for garbage, organics and large item collection starting in May 2027. The City of Woodstock and the Township of South-West Oxford will start green bin collection in 2026 because they have municipal service agreements.
The province will start handling recycling collection next year.
Oxford will switch to a six-day collection cycle, which will allow the county to save $1.7-million annually according to Woodstock City County Councillor Bernia Martin.
Warden Marcus Ryan will be appearing on the Heart FM morning show at 8:10 a.m. today and will provide us with more details.
