The private funeral for Haldimand OPP Constable Grzegorz Pierzchala will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Sadlon Arena in his hometown of Barrie.
BARRIE - Lots of people will pack the Sadlon Arena in Barrie today, to pay their respects to a fallen Haldimand OPP officer.
Constable Grzegorz Pierzchala was 28 years old when he was shot dead on Tuesday December 27th, while responding to a report of a vehicle in a ditch west of Hagersville. Two people have since been charged with first-degree murder.
His private funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. in his hometown. His family members will be joined by officers from the OPP and other police forces, as well as first responders and Canadian Armed Forces members. Several dignitaries will also be there including Premier Doug Ford.
The ceremony will be live-streamed at the Caledonia Lions Hall in Haldimand County.
