The 8th annual Hawkins Gignac Memorial Tournament has 144 golfers participating at the Paris Grand Golf and Country Club.
PARIS - Lots of golfers gathered at the Paris Grand Golf and Country Club for the 8th annual Hawks Gignac Memorial Golf Tournament. Today's tournament has 144 people participating and raised money for the Hawkins Gignac Foundation.
Executive Director John Gignac says the foundation raises awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide.
"We're working right across Canada now; we're working in British Columbia and in the east coast provinces. We are also starting out now with a new volume one of our new activity books for schools and we are working with teachers to educate the children now so it's a big project for us."
Gignac adds the foundation and the golf tournament have received lots of support from the community over the years.
"We get a lot of support from the community because everyone is buying into the fact that carbon monoxide is a deadly killer and everybody needs to know about it."
This year's tournament has the goal of raising anywhere between $15,000 and $25,000 for the Hawkins Gignac Foundation.
