A hazardous chemical leak closed down the rear of westbound Highway 401 service centre Thursday evening. OPP and the Beachville Fire Department were called to the service centre located between Oxford County Road 6 and Sweaburg Road just after 5pm after a transport truck carrying Sodium Chlorite leaked approximately 4 gallons of the chemical at the back of the lot. Fortress Hazardous Materials along with the Ministry of Health were called in to clean up the spill and the Ministry of Transportation is investigating. Luckily there were no injuries reported and no evacuation was required.
