The Town of Hickson needs your help in the Pioneer Seeds Here's to Hometown Giveaway contest.
HICKSON - The Town of Hickson is a finalist in the Pioneer Seeds Here's to Hometown Giveaway contest.
The Van Boekel family has created a video to showcase the town and all it has to offer. Mike Van Boekel says if their video gets the most votes, they will get $50,000 to invest in the community.
"We are going to divide the money equally to five different projects around Oxford County and the community of Hickson and we will give $10,000 to each project."
The plan is to give $10,000 to the Oxford County Mental Health with programs geared towards teenage suicide prevention. They will also give $10,000 to the Lions Club in Hickson to help pay for accessible meeting room. They would also donate $10,000 to help pay for an ATV for the Hickson trail that would be used in the case of emergencies. They would also donate $10,000 for technology upgrades to the local home and school association. Finally they would give $10,000 to the local ball field, to have a safer infield with better bounces."
Hickson says you can vote everyday for Hickson until December 10th and you can find a link to the video on our website.
"There were 39 video's submitted to Pioneer and this week they announced 4 finalists and we were one of the finalists which is great and they will be giving the $50,000 to two of the top four finalists."
