The Lighting of Museum Square will get underway at 5:30 p.m. today.
WOODSTOCK - It's the official start to the holiday season in the Friendly City.
Duane Kumala-Thomas, the Operations Manager for the Woodstock BIA, says the Lighting of Museum Square will be taking place this evening.
"It will be a festive time to get into the spirit! Things kick off at 5:30 p.m. when Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive. They will be visiting all the way from the North Pole, so make sure you get there early because we don't want to disappoint them."
Manager of Special Events Kristen Brodhagen says the Lighting of Museum Square is very exciting to watch.
"We have a countdown to light up the square and then the lights will be on display for the Christmas season. There are a handful, probably five to seven, large installations and you could possibly see a new one installed this year as well!"
The evening will also include cookies and hot chocolate, a performance from the NorthFIRE Circus Show, the Christmas Scavenger Hunt at the Woodstock Museum, and a community collaborative project from the Woodstock Art Gallery. There's also going to be meet and greets with the Snowflake Princess, Bella Snow, and the Ice Queen.
All of the fun should wrap up by 7:30 p.m. and you can find more information about the Lighting of Museum Square online here.
