14 varieties of hummus & dip added to Loblaw's recall due to the possible presence of the toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria
Following a food safety investigation by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Loblaw is expanding its recall.
Originally Loblaw only recalled the Moroccan Style Hummus, but since then 14 dips and hummus varieties have been added.
The recall has been issued because these products may contain the toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria.
There are some reports of illness due to consumption of these products. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping and fever. In severe cases of illness, headache, muscle cramping and changes in blood pressure and pulse rate may occur.
The varieties of President's Choice products being recalled include:
Hummus - 227 g & 454 g
Spicy Hummus - 227 g & 454 g
Roasted Garlic Hummus - 227 g & 454 g
Moroccan Style Hummus - 280 g
Roasted Garlic Red Pepper and Cumin Hummus - 280 g
Roasted Pepper and Paprika Hummus - 280 g
Roasted Red Pepper and Chipotle Hummus - 280g
Butter Bean & Roasted Garlic Hummus - 280 g
Olive Tapenade Hummus - 280 g
Red Harissa Hummus - 280 g
Sweet Potato and Harissa Dip - 280 g
Caramelized Vidalia Onion Hummus - 227 g
