A Secondary Plan is a land use plan for a specific area in a municipality's Official Plan.
INGERSOLL - The Town of Ingersoll now has a plan in place for 1,500 acres of land it acquired from South-West Oxford.
The deal was finalized between the two municipalities in 2021, with Ingersoll planning to use the lands on the east and south-east parts of town for residential, commercial, and industrial growth.
The new Secondary Plan is going to direct all of the growth and development in the area including land use planning, transportation, water management, and more.
It also includes a review of all of the different housing options for the area.
The Town of Ingersoll is expected to have a population of 19,000 people by 2046. Mayor Brian Petrie says the new Secondary Plan will allow the municipality to prepare for the future.
“Ingersoll Town Council and Oxford County Council have taken proactive measures to enact policies that promote increased population densities. This guarantees an abundant supply of residences for prospective residents while also strengthening industrial and commercial sectors to improve service delivery.”
