Rotary Club of Ingersoll has given $10 000 to help with the Habitat for Humanity Ingersoll build.
INGERSOLL - A family from Ingersoll is one step closer to moving into their new home after a hefty donation was given to Habitat for Humanity.
The build of the new home is proceeding as scheduled with construction set for the fall. The hope is to have the Ingersoll family moving in by spring 2016. Regional Development Coordinator at Habitat for Humanity Heartland, Allison Kampman, spoke to Heart FM about how this new donation will help push the project along. "The donation that just came in from the Rotary Club of Ingersoll with a gift of $10 000. We use all of the money that we receive from donations to purchase items that we cannot get free of charge - that may include labour or items that we will need to buy for the home."
Kampman would like to express her appreciation to the Ingersoll Branch of the Rotary Club. "We would just like to thank them very much for kick starting this build off for us. We know they are huge supporters in Ingersoll and we do appreciate their support with this build. It will go a long way to help this family get into their home." Events will be held throughout the year to continue to raise money for the project and Kampman adds financial donations are always welcome.
The house is set to provide an accessible and affordable means of living to a family in need. Kampman outlines how the planning stages are coming for this new home. "We have a lot purchased, we have planned for tentatively an August start date to get the family into the home March or April of next year pending of course funding, volunteers, and if anyone can give items to this home." 100% of the money raised will directly go into purchasing everything from building materials to extra hands to see the home finalized.
This is not the first time the Rotary Club has partnered with HFH after a donation greatly impacted a build in 2009.
Volunteers are always needed for these projects. Visit Habitat4Home.ca to find out more and get involved.
