WOODSTOCK - Anne Innes was the appSHEiation award winner at this years International Women's day that was held at Oxford Auditorium, Anne who is the president of Oxford District's Women's Institute fought back tears as she talked about her thoughts on receiving this award. "I'm very humbled because I'm very proud to represent this organization. We have 105 members in Oxford County and it is a very humbling experience, and I am very proud."
The institute which has 9 locations in Oxford County is heavily involved in numerous community activities and Anne will get to enjoy this honour for 1 year when it will be given to another member of an organization this time next year. When asked what it meant to be recognized she had this to say. "I was very happy to have many of our members on the stage with me this afternoon, and it is just a very proud moment to showcase what we were able to do for Women in Oxford County. We have been around a long time but many people haven't heard of us so today was a chance of us to tell people of all the good things that our members have been able to do over the past 100 years."
Anne stated the process for applying for this award. "The Process involves an application form where 10 pertinent questions were asked on whether your organization were meeting these certain requirements. It was a really good experience to go through it and say yes we really do all that." Innes and the Institute won the award for their significant contribution to improving the lives of those within the county.
