Introducing Thunderfest, a Hoedown with Heart

A special event in Tavistock looks to raise funds for the Oxford County HART Hub Initiative.

TAVISTOCK - Tickets are selling fast for Thunderfest, a Hoedown with Heart.

The family friendly event will takeover Transitions Equine Assistance on Maplewood Sideroad, just outside Tavistock, on Saturday July 12th from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Organizer Alisha Wilson walks us through the packed schedule.

"There is going to be a vendor market from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., we have a kids zone, hands on horse activities, and a pottery workshop. We have live entertainment during the vendor market and then we have Jessie T taking the stage with her band."

She adds people who don't enjoy country music will still have a great time.

"We have Uncle G who has folk and alternative kind of music. We also have Jack Redman who plays all kind of alternative music and is also a very talented young man. Greg Szabo is another one of our musicians from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Jessie T is going to play a mix of things from the 80s, 90s and songs she has written!"

The evening will also include Urban Cowboy Linedancing at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets cost $10 each, and Wilson says all of the proceeds will support the Oxford County HART Hub Initiative.

"Homelessness and addiction seems to be a growing concern in all countys, not just Oxford County but specifically our county. I have personal experience dealing with both of those things, whether its myself personally or within my family, so it's a cause that's near and dear to my heart."

Wilson would like to thank everyone who has sponsored this event and The Kiln Room in Woodstock for co-hosting it.

The tickets are selling fast and Wilson is expecting to sell all 300 of them. If you're interested in attending, you can purchase your ticket online here while supplies last.

Wilson is the owner of Transitions Equine Assistance and she named this event after her seven year old Quarter Horse gelding named Thunder. Transitions Equine Assistance teaches life and leadership skills using an experienced based approach with horses, no riding required. It also offers holistic services and more information can be found online here.
