Dog Lovers Day will take over Museum Square in Woodstock this Saturday.
WOODSTOCK - It's all going to the dogs.
Dog Lovers' Day will be taking over Museum Square this Saturday. Manager of the Downtown Woodstock BIA Kelly Morrison describes the event as a festival for dogs. "Dogs can enjoy lure courses, a doggie fun zone, best dressed dog competition at 2 o'clock, and they will also have a health and wellness centre - 'holistic healing by Emily'. There's also a pamper zone, several vendors...but most importantly we're raising money for our chosen charity which is Oxford County Animal Rescue."
This is the first year the event is held in the Friendly City. All kinds of dogs are welcome to come out as long as they have been socialized. They must also be kept on a leash and cleaned up after throughout the day.
"Woodstock is a very pet friendly community. And we used to host a dog show here in the park for many years," says Morrison. "This is different than a show, it's more a festival for the dogs. So we're looking forward to hopefully get some of those people that were in Woodstock in the past that supported the show, and WienerFest which is in June in Thamesford - so we're hoping those people come check this out."
The festival runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday in Museum Square.
