Woodstock Navy Vets, Norwich Merchants and Thamesford Trojans were in action yesterday evening.
OXFORD COUNTY- The Woodstock Navy Vets ended their pre season with a win over Delhi. A late third period goal from Nick Zehr gave the Vets the tiebreaker they needed, taking the game 3-2. Friday September 12th will mark the beginning of the season for the Vets who will play Wellesley at the Southwood Arena, puck drops 7:45pm.
The Norwich Merchants tied 4 to 4 with New Hamburg Firebirds in Junior C hockey action yesterday evening. It was the Firebirds who drew first blood early in the first. The Merchants came to life in the second period, and grabbed the lead in the third however the Merchants were unable to fend off New Hamburg who were able to even the score. The Merchants will get another chance tonight against the Firebirds, puck drops at 7:30 in Norwich.
The Mount Brydges Bulldogs may have scored first but it would be their only goal of the game against the Thamesford Trojans. The Trojans went on to score 3 in the first and didn't look back bulldozing their opponents 6 to 1. Over 30 penalty offences accounted for 88 penalty minutes.
