The public can now help the Woodstock Police during emergencies.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service is now offering a voluntary Vulnerable Person Registry service to improve the community.
This new registry program allows a family member and/or caregivers to submit critical information to Woodstock Police Service that can be used during an emergencies for a vulnerable person.
It will also provide the Woodstock Police Service with emergency contact information, detailed physical descriptions, known routines and the special needs of this individual. This information will help officers get in touch with people attending a home or during an emergency situation. This registry is intended to keep vulnerable members of our community safe.
A Vulnerable Person is defined as a person who due to a medical, mental health or physical condition, may exhibit patterns of behaviour that may pose a danger to themselves or to others. This could include an inclination to wander, the inability to communicate, fascinations of attractions (water, construction sites, etc.) and social responses (fear of strangers, aggression).
Separately, if your loved one is living with dementia, communitWEBy partners recognize that families and caregivers need supports.
If your loved one goes missing then the “Finding Your Way registry can help people with dementia-related memory problems live safely in our community. For more information on how to register for the “Finding your Way” registry contact the Alzheimer Society of Oxford at http://alzheimer.ca/en/oxford.
A link has been added to the Woodstock Police Service website (www.woodstockpolice.ca), complete with forms for the general public to access and complete. The Vulnerable Persons Registry on the website will also contain a link to Alzheimer Society of Oxford.
