Southwestern Public Health will be administering the vaccine that targets the XBB variant to high-risk individuals at its offices in Woodstock and St. Thomas.
WOODSTOCK/ST. THOMAS - High-risk individuals will be able to get the latest COVID-19 vaccination at one of the Southwestern Public Health offices.
The health unit will be administering the Moderna vaccine that targets the XBB variant to those who are pregnant, over the age of 65, or have an immune-compromising health condition starting this week. The same goes for First Nation, Inuit, and Metis individuals and the people who live with them.
Jaime Fletcher, the Program Manager of Vaccine Preventable Diseases, says they have already been administering the vaccine in high-risk settings.
“While the past two weeks have seen the health unit's first shipment of the Moderna XBB vaccine sent to the regions most vulnerable in long-term care homes, retirement homes, and hospitals, we’re now happy to offer clinics to those living in the community.”
The health unit's Woodstock office is located at 410 Buller Street and the St. Thomas office is at 1230 Talbot Street. You have to schedule an appointment beforehand, using the province's online booking portal or by calling 1-833-943-3900.
You won't be able to get the shot if it has been less than six months since your last vaccination or COVID-19 infection.
