Poppy boxes have started popping up in the Friendly City.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Royal Canadian Legion has officially launched their poppy campaign.
Poppy boxes started showing up at local business on Friday and today the legion delivered one to MPP Ernie Hardeman's office. Two years ago Hardeman successfully brought forward a motion in the Ontario Legislature to allow MPPs to have Remembrance Day Poppy donation boxes in their offices. He tells Heart FM what the poppy means to him.
"Remember and appreciate the sacrifices made by the veterans who didn't return from the war."
Donations to the poppy campaign directly support Canada’s serving and retired Veterans and their families. World War 2 Veteran and Woodstock resident Ken MacGillivary delivered the poppy box today and he explains what it means to him when he see's people wearing a poppy.
"I think of the buddies that I was in the front lines with that I lost during the war and that means a lot to me."
