Team Sugar Mamas won last night's episode of The Big Bake: Halloween and Kirsten Poole from Cakes by K called the Heart FM newsroom this morning to talk about the life changing experience.
WOODSTOCK - It was the experience of a lifetime for local baker Kirsten Poole.
You may know her from Cake by K in Woodstock and she made an appearance on last night's episode of The Big Bake: Halloween on the Food Network. She was a part of Team Sugar Mamas alongside Kristen Eagles of Woodstock and Sara Barros of Cambridge and the trio won the $10,000 prize in the end.
They created massive Frankenstein cake that was able to stand up on it's own. They had a five hour time limit and the cake was about 4.5 feet tall and weighed about 200 pounds in the end. Poole handled a lot of the baking for her team, while Eagles and Barros helped bring the monster to life.
Poole says it was very nerve-racking to see their creation come to life.
"When we had to flip the switch to see if Frankenstein would come to life. I don't think any of us breathed during that moment when we had to plug him in and flip that switch, it was a lot!"
Poole says it was a very stressful experience, but she would do it all over again if she had Eagles and Barros by her side.
Their Big Bake: Halloween episode was actually filmed earlier this year, and Poole says keeping this secret was one of the hardest things she has ever had to do.
"I was away for a couple of days, away from my family, and I couldn't tell anyone where I was or what I was doing! It was the hardest secret I've had to keep so last night when everyone finally got to see it and see that we did in fact win, it was amazing and fantastic to be surrounded by so much love and support."
