The Oxford County Federation of Agriculture presented the Hall Of Fame award to Embro's Frans Knoops.
EMBRO - The Oxford County Federation of Agriculture handed out their 2018 Hall of Fame Award.
The OFA announced the honour in front of Oxford County Council. This year's winner is Frans Knoops.
President for the Oxford County Federation of Agriculture, Dirk Boogerd says Knoops was among the three nominees up for the award.
"We had a couple of nominees that came in last year and through that nomination process we selected Frans Knoops to be the winner of this award for 2018. Frans has a farm just outside of Embro and he also has a machine shop and a service business that he has out there. Along with that, he's very involved in the community. He has been a leader in a startup for the Embro Tractor Pull as well as very involved with the young farmers of Oxford County, as well as some other agricultural related community events he's been active in. The Oxford County Plowmen's Association, he's there as well, very involved."
The winner is chosen based on their leadership in the agricultural community.
Boogerd says Knoops was humble in being named this year's recipient.
"He was very humble when he received this award and very down to earth. He said himself he's not deserving, but I think we really need to work on recognizing those that do great things in our community, especially in Oxford as well, and really celebrate those and give that opportunity to have those people enjoy that celebration as well. We wish all the best to Frans in the future endeavours, in the future businesses that he's going to be in and we certainly are very proud to have him inducted in the Hall of Fame."
Knopps' work includes founding the Embro Tractor Pull and being a part of the Oxford County Plowmen's Association.
His award will be on display in the Oxford Administration Building.
