United Way Oxford is collecting donations for the Ontario Student Nutrition Program.
OXFORD COUNTY - It's Valentines Day and United Way Oxford is encouraging everyone to share the love.
Today is the first day of the third annual Local Love Week and the theme this year is Feeding Kids and Building Connections.
Resource Development Coordinator Megan Porter says the money will be going to the Ontario Student Nutrition Program, which feeds kids in 39 schools across Oxford County.
"We know that there are families that are suffering and are struggling so much that they don't have food to send to school with their children, so we want to help support the Ontario Student Nutrition Program that provides the snack program in those schools."
Adams Building Supply will match all donations up to $5,000, whether they're made online, in person at the United Way Oxford office in Woodstock, or through a workplace or organizations fundraising drive
Jamie Adams, the President of Adams Building Supply Limited, says they're happy to support this cause.
"At Adams Building Supply, we believe in the power of community and the impact that Local Love can have. That is why we are proud to support United Way’s Local Love Week. Every child deserves access to nutritious meals to fuel their day and help them thrive, but we know that families face challenges in this economy. That is where we can all make a difference - together."
A $10 donation will provide a student with a weeks worth of snacks. Porter also says each snack costs about $1.50 each, so even the the smallest donations can make a difference.
"You can donate $10, $25, $50 or whatever you would like really. It's all going to have an impact and it's all going to be doubled. We're so grateful to Adams Building Supply for providing that double the impact."
