Politicians in Woodstock are reminding everyone to shop local this holiday season.
WOODSTOCK - Local Politicians spent their morning shopping in Downtown Woodstock.
Mayor Trevor Birtch and MPP Ernie Hardeman toured the downtown with BIA Manager Kelly Morrison. Hardeman explains the importance of shopping local.
"The people that our running their business in this community are the ones that are also the ones making the community what it is by reinvesting back into the community and if we don't shop local, they are not going to do well and then they obviously can't help the community either, so it's part of a bigger picture."
Hardeman launched his buy local initiative during the CAMI Strike. He has visited all of the major Downtown cores in Oxford County over the past two months promoting a shop local message.
Birtch says it's always a good idea to invest back into your community.
"The City of Woodstock has been encouraging people to shop local since our foundations, there is so many great innovations and products being made in the Friendly City, as well as retailers that can find you anything you would like that you could get at a major centre, so their is no need to leave town."
