The West Region OPP has some reminders for everyone as we head into the long weekend.
SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO - You'll see an increased police presence on the roads, highways, trails and waterways over the May long weekend.
In a video posted on the OPP West Region X page yesterday, Sergeant Ed Sanchuk encouraged everyone to use common sense if you have to go anywhere over the next few days.
"Make sure you wear your seatbelt, make sure your passengers are wearing their seatbelts, put all distractions away, don't be impaired by alcohol or drugs and no aggressive driving."
He also stressed the importance of wearing a life jacket while out on the water
"It's going to save your life! That life jacket that's left on the pier and that life jacket that's left under the seats of the boat will not save your life if you do not wear it."
He also says you should wear a helmet if you're planning on riding a bike or an ATV out on the trails.
This Victoria Day #longweekend, let's ALL do our part to ensure it's injury and crash free. #OPP urging everyone to always put safety as a priority! #WROPP ^es pic.twitter.com/40cXvQgKxJ
