A Woodstock man is being held in custody after a violent weekend attack. Police were called to a home on Brock St., at around 10:30 last night, to find a 49-year-old man, who had been assaulted with a knife and baseball bat. Police say the victim knew his attacker. A short distance away, police arrested 42-year-old Donald Schaeffer of Woodstock. He's charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, threatening to cause death, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and theft. Schaeffer remains in custody, awaiting a bail hearing. Police say the victim's injuries were minor, and he refused to go to the hospital for treatment.
