Oxford County is looking to shine a light on its waste depots and diversion programs this National Waste Reduction Week.
OXFORD COUNTY - It is National Waste Reduction Week, and Oxford County is doing its part.
Manager of Transportation and Waste Management, Frank Gross speaks to what will take place.
"This week, each day will be highlighting the various waste initiatives that are available to residents, and how each of us can do our part to reduce waste, and prevent waste from going into the landfill."
Daily blogs have been made and will be featuring the initiatives, and can be found online here. Gross says there are multiple benefits that come along with trying to reduce waste.
"The environmental benefits of extending the life of our landfill, and not having to build a new landfill in the future."
As an organization committed to Zero Waste, Oxford County’s new Strategic Plan aims to reduce waste generation and disposal; maximize resource recovery, for instance, through recycling; and promote the Circular Economy through the Zero Waste Plan.
