The Woodstock Art Gallery is unveiling new exhibits, including one featuring one of Woodstock's most celebrated artists.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Art Gallery is gearing up for their brand new fall exhibits.
They will unveil three new exhibits as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations on Friday October 14th starting at 5 p.m. Curator Mary Reid tells Heart FM about one of the new exhibits titled Miss Carlyle's Success.
"This is an exhibition that looks at Florence Carlyle, one of Woodstock's most historical Canadian female painters. During her lifetime she gained a very expansive international reputation. So this is part of the 50th anniversary for the Woodstock Art Gallery and we are very pleased the Art Gallery of Ontario has actually loaned the painting called The Tiff which was probably her most award winning and notable work. It helped launch her international career and won several prestigious awards and they are letting us borrow the work for a full year."
The other exhibits featured include See What I See, a unique look at photography through the eyes of a child and work from renowned First Nation's photographer Greg Staats. Staats will also be available for a artist and curator walk and talk on Saturday at 2 p.m. to discuss his work. The Art Gallery is also bringing a special guest curator for the event, Patricia Deadman.
