The latest Heart FM News Poll asks, are you impressed with the work your local municipal council has done over the past year?
OXFORD COUNTY - It has been one year since Oxford County residents went to the polls for the 2022 municipal election.
A lot has happened since then. Looking at a few examples in Woodstock, City Council has brought the benches and picnic tables back to the downtown core, banned the sale and discharge of consumer fireworks, and decided to vote against a consumption treatment site opening in the city.
Norwich Township also made national headlines earlier this year, after it passed a motion to only allow for government flags on municipal property. Alisha Stubbs stepped down as the Ward 2 councillor when this happened, and Lynne DePlancke was appointed to the position after a byelection in September. Ward 1 councillor John Scholten, who introduced the new flag policy bylaw, has also announced his plans to retire at the end of the year.
