Environment Canada Meteorologist Gerald Cheng says they have no reports of a tornado touching down in Oxford County yesterday.
OXFORD COUNTY - Lots of Oxford County residents were shocked when the Alert Ready system notified them of a tornado warning in our region.
Environment Canada issued the warning just before 8 p.m. yesterday but was called off not too long afterwards.
Meteorologist Gerald Cheng says their decision to issue the warning was based on their radar data.
"We have no reports of a touchdown; we didn't even get any reports of funnel clouds. The warning was based on radar telling us there could potential rotation."
Although there was no tornado, Cheng says some regions did witness scary weather conditions.
"We had a lot of report of various sizes of hail. For example north of London golf ball sized hail was reported with the golf ball size around 4.3cm so they were really big. I'm sure it caused damage to trees and peoples gardens."
