The Norwich Merchants are getting ready for a new season which will open up with a chance for redemption against Ayr.
NORWICH - The Norwich Merchants are gearing up for another season in the Mid Western Junior Hockey League as the schedule for the upcoming season has been released.
Norwich had a good team last year before losing in the finals to the Ayr Centennials. Head Coach Ed Dove says they won't have to wait long to exact some revenge on the Cens with the home opener on September 11th.
"Home opener is always a big night, this year we have Ayr. They are obviously going to be strong as the defending champs and it looks like they will have a lot of returning players this year; that will be a good test to see where we are at and how we are going, and then next Friday we have another good test against Paris who it looks like will have a strong team again this year as well."
Dove says they will not be doing a Rookie camp this year and are hoping to bring back 10-12 players from last year's team. Training camp for the team starts on August 9th.
Heart FM will also be profiling the other two teams from Oxford in the league: the Woodstock Navy Vets and the Tavistock Braves as well as the Thamesford Trojans who play in the SOJHL.
