It was the first Morning Show interview with Mayor Jerry Acchione of 2026, and it was packed with information.
WOODSTOCK - Mayor Jerry Acchione was on the Heart FM Morning Show for his bi-weekly interview.
This morning was filled with different topics, including potential new residential units coming to Woodstock. Plans have been put forward to change the old Cedar Creek Golf Course Clubhouse into living spaces. Mayor Acchione says what could be coming.
"You're going to see anywhere from up to 340 units being proposed, what our staff have put together that we can see as apartment buildings, three or four different apartment buildings in that piece of property."
Acchione says there is a planning meeting tonight, which will shed more light on the potential project, and it will also be discussed at the upcoming Council meeting on Thursday. The Mayor adds there was a report from the County about housing plans, and it shows there are over 4-thousand outstanding permits for units which would include apartments, townhouses, and single-family homes.
In another topic, a special honour could be given to a site in the Friendly City. The Heritage Committee has asked Council to mark a property as a Heritage Site. Mayor Acchione says where that property is.
"So that's 259 and 261 Park Row. Both of those are going to be designated. It's more to make sure it never gets torn down."
Acchione mentions the space was the first African Episcopal Church and served many local Black families and welcomed people of all races, emphasizing character over colour.
