The Norwich Optimist Club is conjuring all township residents, groups and businesses for their SpooKing Contest.
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - The Norwich Optimist Club is on the hunt for its very first SpooKing. Residents, groups and businesses in Norwich Township are invited to participate in the contest by entering their very own spook station in the Norwich Optimist Haunted Corn Maze this year.
Corn Maze Chairman John Rettie explains why the club decided to create this competition.
"We were looking for more participation at the Haunted Corn Maze so we decided to open it up to township residents, groups or businesses and see who can come up with the spookiest station"
Those who participate have to create and man a spook station in the Norwich Optimist Haunted Corn Maze during the evenings of October 21st, 22nd, 28th and 29th.
Here's a list of some of the contest rules:
- No open flames or real weapons are permitted. All props must be approved prior to building your station on the grounds.
- The station MUST have team members present to haunt on October 21st, 22nd, 28th and 29th from 6:30pm until 10pm.
- At least one adult must be present at each station on all evenings.
- Each station must be carried into the corn maze (maze trails are 5ft wide).
- Use of generators are allowed but not supplied.
The team with the scariest station will win the title of the SpooKing. Rettie adds prizes will also be awarded to the top three teams.
"First, second and third place prizes are $300, $200 and $100 respectively to go towards your favourite children's charity of organization."
Some examples of children's charities and organizations include Big Brothers Big Sisters, Club 33, the Upper Deck, Norwich Minor Soccer, Norwich Minor Hockey and the Norwich & District Figure Skating Club.
All teams must register before Saturday October 15th.
