STRATFORD - A 15 year-old Stratford girl is facing assault charges.
Officers received a call on Tuesday at 3:00 pm after the victim, a 14 year-old girl, reported the incident.
The 14 year-old knew the suspect and she suffered minor injuries but didn't require any medical attention.
Police learned there was video of the incident posted on social media which saw numerous derogatory comments posted about the 15 year-old suspect and her family, with some of these comments specifically naming people involved.
They want to remind the public that under the Youth Criminal Justice Act it is a criminal offence to publicly identify a young person involved in a criminal act, and that such posts on social media are to be removed.
Police worked cooperatively with both of the teenager's families and the 15 year-old was arrested and released from custody, scheduled to appear in court on November 14th. There are also conditions for her to stay away from the 14 year-old girl.
