They note that wastewater signals have stopped declining and are increasing slightly as they anticipate hospitalizations and ICU rates to increase next month.
The Ontario Science Table released new modelling today.
They note that wastewater signals have stopped declining and are increasing slightly. The Health Unit expects hospital and ICU rates to increase as public health measures get lifted, but the increase will not be as significant as it was in January.
The extent of the increase will depend on the number of close contacts, especially indoors without masking, vaccination status and the spread of the more transmissible BA.2 subvariant. They still recommend wearing a mask, even after the mandate is lifted on Monday.
The science table says the data shows that people with three doses are far less likely to get severely ill from COVID-19.
