From the outside, it doesn't appear a home on Ontario St. was badly damaged by a late night fire. A charred door laying on the front lawn is the only visual evidence of a fire, unless you've been inside. The interior of the home in southwest Woodstock has been gutted by fire. Emergency crews were called to the scene at around midnight last night to find flames engulfing one of the bedrooms on the upper floor. The Fire Department quickly knocked down the blaze, within a half-an-hour. However, Fire Inspector Lukasz Kasprsyk emerged from the house this morning to tell Heart FM the damage is extensive. "The fire destroyed one of the bedrooms and got into the attic. There's a lot of smoke damage throughout the house, mainly the upper level. I'm glad that there's nobody hurt. Everybody got out safe." There's also water damage throughout the home. Kasprsyk puts the preliminary damage estimate at $150,000. He'll remain on scene all day trying to determine the cause of the fire. "We'll be digging through the debris in the bedroom trying to determine the cause and see if there's any sources we can isolate as the cause of the fire." As Kasprsyk mentioned, no one was injured. Woodstock Police say a mother and daughter had just arrived home to find the smoke billowing out of the house, while the father was in the garage at the time, and was unaware of the fire.
