The OPP is hoping to share some online resources with parents and youth to help combat online bullying.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford OPP is asking young people and their families to report online bullying.
Last month the OPP and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection signed an agreement that highlights areas of collaboration to enhance the safety of children in Ontario.
Detective Sergeant Terry Paddon says it's important for parents and youth to take advantage of some of these online resources.
"It can be intimidating as a parent, I get that, but you should go online, look at some of these resources and then engage in your children in conversation, develop a trusting relationship in relation to their online activity and make sure you can convey some of the dangers of the internet. I'm a parent myself, I have two teenage children who know the internet much better than I, so I understand it can be intimidating for adults."
OPP Commisioner Vince Hawkes says this is something they are really focused on.
"The Ontario Provincial Police is working diligently to protect children in our communities, but police cannot be everywhere at once. It is important for parents to be proactive and speak with their kids about their experiences online and potential safety concerns, such as cyberbullying and privacy."
