TOWNSEND - A pedestrian has been struck and killed in a hit and run on Indian Line.
The OPP is still trying to locate the vehicle that failed to stop and is seeking the public's assistance.
Investigators say they're searching for a mid-sized, white-coloured SUV with extensive front-end damage. The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Indian Line towards Hagersville.
The incident took place this morning shortly before 5 a.m. and after the pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital, they were pronounced deceased. Indian Line remains closed for the investigation. The Norfolk OPP, Six Nations Police Service along with Fire and EMS were all present at the scene of the crime.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending next of kin notification.
Investigators are asking anyone that may have been travelling on Indian Line between Mohawk Road and Villa Nova Road between 4:00 a.m., and 5:00 a.m., to contact police if they observed anything suspicious. Community residents in the surrounding area are also being asked to check their security surveillance cameras to see if they captured the vehicle or pedestrian involved.
