Police have some tips to make sure you don't become a victim this holiday season.
OXFORD COUNTY - With only a few weeks left until Christmas, lots of delivery drivers have been hitting the roads to deliver packages to online shoppers.
The West Region OPP would like to remind everyone about the dangers of porch pirates.
They're thieves who steal packages from your doorstep and police have some tips to make sure you don't become a victim this holiday season.
You should always track your packages online, so you know when they're going to be delivered. It's a good idea to request a signature upon delivery or arrange to have your package left at a rear door or somewhere out of sight. The OPP also recommend installing outdoor video cameras if possible, and post signs so people visiting know they are being filmed.
If you're not going to be home when your package is delivered, arrange to have it dropped off at a trusted friend or neighbours house. You can also have your package delivered to your workplace if you're employer allows it.
You can also arrange for in-store or curbside pickup in order to avoid all of this.
If you become the victim of a porch pirate this holiday season, make sure you report it to the delivery company. You should also call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
