Over $20,000 from the Ingersoll and Tillsonburg Curl for Kids Sake will go back to supporting kids in our community.
INGERSOLL/TILLSONBURG - Curl for Kids Sake was another smashing success for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, and District.
Over the past two weekends curlers competed at bonspiels in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg. During the events they managed to raise over $20,000 this year. Resource Development Coordinator Heather Breckleman tells Heart FM what they do with the money raised.
"So we try to make sure that all of the money raised from the community at events like this go back to our programs and services in a more direct way. For example, providing a match - both resources and support, screening, and all that throughout the course of a year."
She adds the top fundraising team this year came out of Tillsonburg with the Land and Leaf Lovers. Scotiabank was the title sponsor this year and David Abhams from the Tillsonburg branch explains why the bank always loves to support Big Brothers Big Sisters.
"It was again a pleasure to sponsor, and be involved in such a fun event. We feel it is important to support our youth, who represent our future, and it's great to see so many members of the community coming out to support such a worthwhile organization.”
Curl for Kids is proudly sponsored by Scotiabank Tillsonburg, HeartFM, Easy 101 and Country 107.3.
