OPP officers calling it a tragic Labour Day long weekend as they report on seven traffic fatalities across the province.
ONTARIO - It was an eventful Labour Day long weekend for OPP Officers.
Across the province 9,143 charges were laid over the 3-day period.
4,841 incidents related to speeding, 124 drivers were pulled over for stunt driving, 545 no seatbelt fines, 234 impaired driving charges were handed out, and 102 motorists were caught distracted driving.
It also turned tragic on and off the road with two pedestrians, a motorcyclist, and an off-road vehicle driver among the seven traffic fatalities that occurred in separate collisions across Ontario.
The OPP are sending out a reminder to be responsible when behind the wheel to ensure everyone gets to their destination safely.
