Following a record year last year, the Oxford Community Foundation is gearing up to distribute more money for community improvement.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford Community Foundation is accepting letters of intent for this year's batch of grant money.
Last year the foundation handed out a record $76 000 to local community groups and their three scholarships. All of the money stays in Oxford and is meant for not for profit groups looking to enhance the community. Administrative Assistant with the Foundation Katie Cunnington tells Heart FM who is eligible for the grant money. "It's basically open to any not for profit group in Oxford County. Usually they need a registered charitable number, however if they don't have one they can piggyback on somebody who does have one, for example the town of Zorra will often help their groups apply."
Cunnington says most of the grants are between $500 and $1000. Last year they bought Ipods for the Alzheimer society, signs for the Southgate Seniors Centre, and helped send kids to camp through the YMCA just to name a few.
The deadline to submit your grant applications is June 30th and you can submit the letters by email at info@oxfordcommunityfoundation.org or online at www.oxfordcommunityfoundation.org
