Oxford County is preparing for the future with their new parking policy.
Oxford County council has updated their parking policy at County owned buildings.
The new policy will address the new charging stations for electric vehicles that are going to be built in the County. Warden David Mayberry says they wanted to have a policy in place before the stations are built.
"As we are encouraging electric vehicles and the need to move to a non carbon transportation station, there is going to have to be charging stations built and these charging stations like the ones we have built in Ingersoll and Woodstock right now will be the customer pays, they pay to charge and they pay for the parking spot as well. We are creating the policy before we create the places so that when the charging stations are put in, everybody will kind of know what the rules are. It's just one more forward step in the Future Oxford plan."
The policy update basically states that those charging station parking spots will be for electric vehicles only.
Those vehicles have to pay to charge and part of that rate is to cover the cost of electricity and it also will cover your parking spot.
