Oxford County Council to Discuss Road Safety

Staff conducted an audit using the Good Roads Rural Road Safety Audit Guidelines.

OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council will talk road safety during an upcoming meeting.

On Wednesday, Council will discuss the potential for an all-way stop at the intersection of Oxford Road 28 and Oxford Road 6 in Zorra Township. The discussion will happen because of a road safety audit, which also brought recommendations of road design features to help reduce vehicle speeds on Oxford Road 6; enhanced signage; and improved sight lines through road regrading, relocating light poles, and cutting back trees and vegetation. The safety audit marked Oxford County’s first use of the Good Roads Rural Road Safety Audit Guidelines.

Oxford County Council will also receive a report at Wednesday's meeting, which brings the proposal about a temporary all-way stop at Oxford Road 36/Brant Oxford Road and Keg Lane in Blandford-Blenheim. The temporary stop would help while reconstruction work is being done in downtown Paris, which affects traffic on Oxford Road 36. The temporary all-way stop is anticipated to be replaced with traffic signals in a later phase of construction.

The Oxford County Administration Building will be open temporarily for the meeting to be held, it will get underway at 9:30 a.m. The public can also catch the meeting on the livestream online here.
