The Oxford OPP have laid charges in a pair of incidents and are investigating a suspicious fire.

TILLSONBURG - A RIDE check in Tillsonburg leads to charges.

The Oxford OPP were on Broadway Street Saturday night when they noticed an erratic vehicle... which ended up fleeing the check stop.

Officers were able to find the vehicle and have since charged a 24-year-old Hamilton man with 7 counts of failure to comply with a release order, trafficking a Schedule I substance - opioid (other than heroin), flight from a peace officer, and dangerous operation. They also charged a 20-year-old man from Oakville with trafficking a Schedule I substance - opioid (other than heroin).

Police seized suspected Oxycodone, along with a weigh scale, packaging and Canadian money.

SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - Multiple charges have been laid after a stunt driving incident.

The Oxford OPP clocked a driver on the 401 in South-West Oxford yesterday at 9 a.m., going 162 km/h. As a result, a 33-year-old Kitchener resident is now facing charges of driving a motor vehicle performing a stunt with excessive speed, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, being a class G1 licence holder without a qualified driver, being a class G1 licence holder and driving on a prohibited highway, and failure to notify a change of address.

The driver was handed a 14-day licence suspension and a 30-day vehicle impoundment.

SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - An arson is under investigation by Oxford OPP.

The incident happened on Saturday, and officers responded at 6:30 a.m. to the eastbound OnRoute on the 401 in South-West Oxford.

The fire was contained to a washroom and was extinguished upon arrival from Fire Services. It was revealed through the investigation that the cause of the fire was suspicious. There were no reported injuries.
