The full deployment is expected to be complete as soon as practicable
OXFORD COUNTY - Some new gear has come to the Oxford OPP.
Officers will be wearing body cameras, which will continue with the effort to collect better evidence, demonstrate greater accountability and transparency, as well as enhance public and officer safety. The body cameras come after a successful roll out of the in car cameras. Oxford's detachment is one of many in the West Region implementing the use of body cameras.
The cameras will be worn on the front of the officer's vest, which will make it clearly visible to anyone the officer is interacting with. There will be a green ring with flashing lights when the camera is in standby mode, then when the camera begins recording the light will turn to flashing red.
The full deployment of the body cameras in Oxford is expected to be complete as soon as practicable, though officers who have finished training will begin using them immediately.
