A vigil will be taking place at the Woodstock Courthouse at 5:30 p.m.
WOODSTOCK - It has been 35 years since the antifeminist attack at Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal that killed 14 women.
Another 10 women were injured and five men hurt in the shooting and December 6th is now known as National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
The Domestic Abuse Resource Team for Oxford County (DART Oxford) will host a vigil at the Woodstock Courthouse this evening. Community Development Coordinator Amy Maddess says everything will begin at 5:30 p.m.
"We usually put out some silhouettes and we have candles and roses. We read out kind of revised versions of the obituaries of the women whose lives were lost in the Polytechnique Montreal massacre."
It's a short ceremony and Maddess recommends dressing warm for the event.
We're also in the middle of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and you can read more about that online here.
