The City of Woodstock will be offering a babysitting certification course next week. It will be one of two programs being offered on November 15th, which will be inside Southside Aquatic Centre as all students will be off from school.
WOODSTOCK - Kids will be off school next week and the City of Woodstock will have a few programs open.
Among them will be their traditional day camp on November 15th at the Woodstock District Community Complex, starting as early as 7:30 am.
Supervisor of Recreation Programs and Sponsorship Jason Jolicoeur says the kids will be kept busy.
"Parents can rest assure that their children will be safe in our care and spend the day doing quite a bit of activities. So they do cooperative games, sports, they go to the park, they go swimming at Southside Pool."
He adds the hours have been extended this year, going from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, giving parents a little more time to get to and from work.
There will also be a babysitting certification course that same day at the Southside Aquatic Centre from 9:00 to 4:00pm.
Jolicoeur says the course is for children ages 12 to 14 years old.
"They would learn how to be a safe babysitter. So you will be certified and some of the training does include important things like CPR, choking, some gentle first aid, but then also how to prepare healthy foods in a safe way and how to care for kids in a safe manner."
He adds the course will also help kids get a babysitting job because they'll be certified.
