A fundraiser is being held in Woodstock to help the people of Fort MacMurray.
WOODSTOCK - The people of Woodstock are encouraged to come together for the people of Fort McMurray.
Park Place Retirement Residence is holding a carwash and barbeque fundraiser to help with the relief effort.
Director of Community Relations Stephanie Peers says they have a lot of help from the community.
"Paul Graham and the Woodstock Firefighters Association are helping us put this together and they actually will be doing the carwash so they'll be bringing the supplies. And those supplies were donated by Easy Way."
Park Place Retirement Residence has been playing host to a couple from Fort McMurray, and Peers says they have become such a welcome addition to their lives.
"They've actually become really close friends. Their names are Wendy and Eldon, and we love having them there. We definitely want to thank them because they've helped us a lot around the house. They help with activities, they've helped put this whole things together."
The barbeque itself includes face painting by donation, $10 car washes, and Todd's Dogs will also be stopping by and donating a portion of the proceeds.
It's happening Friday, June 17 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Park Place Retirement Residence in Woodstock.
