COVID-19 has caused some issues with the supply chain and Toyota plants across North America are feeling the impact including the TMMC plants in Woodstock and Cambridge.
WOODSTOCK - Toyota workers in Woodstock and Cambridge will have some significant down time next month as the plants run at limited capacity in September.
COVID-19 has caused some issues with the supply chain and Toyota plants across North America are feeling the impact. Locally the North and West lines at the TMMC plants in Cambridge and Woodstock will be shut down for a significant amount of time in September. TMMC does not anticipate any issues for the South line at this time.
TMMC Manager of Communications Michael Bouliane provided the following statement to Heart FM via an email this morning.
"Due to COVID-19 and unexpected events with our supply chain, Toyota is experiencing additional shortages that will affect production at most of our North American plants, including Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC).
While the situation remains fluid and complex, our manufacturing and supply chain teams have worked diligently to develop countermeasures to minimize the impact on production.
In North America, we are projecting a reduction of approximately 60,000 to 90,000 vehicles in August. As for September, we are projecting a reduction of 80,000 vehicles for North America, but the situation remains very fluid.
At this point, all of our vehicle assembly plants in North America, except Texas, will be impacted. TMMC is expecting some significant production downtime throughout September on both our North and West lines, but we don't expect any downtime for our South line.
We do not anticipate any impact to employment at this time."
