MyChart is now available at the Woodstock Hospital. It is a free, secure online tool that allows patients to get easy access to their health information.
WOODSTOCK - Starting today, patients can begin registering for MyChart at the Woodstock Hospital.
It is a free, secure online tool that allows them to get easy access to their health information.
Director of Health information Services and Privacy Officer, Betty David says it will benefit patients at the hospital, as well as across Southwestern Ontario.
"Woodstock residents and actually any patient in a hospital in Southwestern Ontario can now access part of their own health record for those hospitals that participate in MyChart. So patients will be able to share information with whomever they choose, they can share information with family, friends and other healthcare professionals as part of the delegation feature in MyChart."
David says the online tool was used across hospitals in Toronto before coming here.
"MyChart was developed by Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto and has been in place as a patient portal for hospitals in Toronto for 10 plus years, so it's now being deployed in Southwestern Ontario to be the source of access of health information for patients and family caregivers."
She says a few MyChart representatives will be on site today and tomorrow to answer any questions. She adds people will need to bring their health card number and they need to be a previous patient at the hospital to sign up.
The hospital informed the public about the new online tool in a press release last Thursday.
According to the press release, the patient is encouraged to sign up for MyChart during their next appointment at the Woodstock Hospital.
In addition to health records, patients can also use the online portal to view test results and other clinical records, enter personal health information, share their records and securely message their physician or healthcare professional.
On top of their health card, the patient or substitute decision maker will be required to provide a valid email address to register. Once they have provided their email, MyChart will send them an email with a link to their website and a four digit pin to complete registration.
Patients are encouraged to register using such things as their name, birthdate and gender.
