Businesses have been offering paving services at a discounted rate, but they usually do a bad job and/or ask for more money than originally agreed upon.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford OPP is warning residents about a scam in the area.
Constable, Randi Crawford posted a video about it on the OPP West Region social media pages yesterday.
"I just want to let everyone in Oxford County know that we are receiving complaints from members of the community that there are businesses going door to door offering paving services for a discounted rate."
She added that they usually do a bad job, or finish and ask for more money than originally agreed upon. Crawford continued the message with another piece of advice.
"Please, if anyone comes to your door, refuse the service and reach out to a reputable company instead."
She is asking residents to pass this message along to friends and family, so that communities in Oxford can stay protected.
#OxfordOPP would like to warn members of @OxfordCounty that there are people going door to door offering paving services for a discounted rate. They often claim to be a business. Unfortunately, these companies are not legitimate paving companies and either do a poor job or try to… pic.twitter.com/Zj5lKFGfnE
