The province is introducing changes to give pharmacists the power to offer services usually handled by doctors. Starting today pharmacists will be able to give out flu shots, though only about 600 pharmacies are currently set up to do that this fall. Pharmacists can also now write a new prescription for products that help people stop smoking. And payment details are currently being worked out with the province to allow pharmacists to renew existing prescriptions -- except for narcotics -- and make dosage adjustments.
