The Vets move forward after their win over the Norwich Merchants
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Navy Vets advanced to the Doherty Division Final in the PJHL.
After Woodstock's 4-1 win against the Norwich Merchants on Friday night, the Vets will meet the New Hamburg Firebirds in the final.
It will be the battle of the top two teams all season. New Hamburg finished first, three points ahead of the second place Navy Vets.
Woodstock could have advanced earlier, but the Merchants forced a game 5, when Jessie Reimer scored late in the second period giving Norwich hopes of continuing the series.
Game one of the series opens tonight at Wilmot Recreation Centre in New Hamburg at 7:30 p.m.
Woodstock is led by Davin Gray, the Doherty Scoring Champion and runner up Nolan Brett, as well as Tyler Bouck who was statistically the best goalie in the division.
Meanwhile, New Hamburg is led by former Navy Vet, goalie Graeme Noye as well as Owen Fischer who finished third in scoring and top defencemen, Tyler Ried.
Game 2 goes on Friday at 1:45 p.m. in Woodstock at Southwood Arena.
Game 3 goes on Saturday, March 30th in New Hamburg at 2:30 p.m.
